7 Breastfeeding Tips & Top Essentials

Breastfeeding is an amazing feat for any mom. For me, the first 24-48 hours of breastfeeding was difficult (engorged breasts; cracked and sore nipples; and a hungry baby that would not latch). I got through it though with the help of a lactation consultant and was able to breastfeed successfully for the first few months in addition to supplementing with formula as needed.

Take Back the Table

It sits in a forgotten corner of the kitchen, covered in papers, folded laundry, bottles, and toys; it's your family dinner table. With a newborn and just children in general, it can be hard to find time to sit down for meals altogether. But, mealtimes are important to strengthen social and developmental skills, even in the earliest stages of life.

Ages and Stages

Babies grow rapidly and so do their needs. It can be difficult to determine what products are available for your baby and when it is appropriate to use them.

How Do You Measure 5 Years?

In giggles, in snuggles, in tears, in cups of juice.

Last night my oldest graduated from Pre-K. Over the next few months, so many new things are happening in her life. She’s starting summer camp, heading to Kindergarten at a new school in September, and turning 5. Everyone says "it goes too fast". Listen up: it goes too fast! I didn’t spend enough time being completely present through the small things. I will do that now with my 10 month old.

Three Things I Learned from Feeding My Baby

I will take it back to the very first time I fed my daughter and bring it up until now.

Like Labradors, babies don’t realize it when they are full and will keep eating. Listen to the nurse when she says, “Only let her eat to this line.” I didn’t do this because she kept eating and as a new mom I thought she was still hungry. Needless to say, I ended up wearing what she ate that was passed the line.

If you are a second passed the feeding time, you have entered the “danger zone.” I don’t think I need to elaborate on this. At all.
